Arlene L. Gundlach

Arlene L. Gundlach, age 95 of Livingston, died on Monday evening, July 2, 2018, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. Arlene was born June 11, 1923, in Wessington, South Dakota the daughter of Elmore and Jemima (Irving) Braudt. She married Theodore Gundlach on Aug. 6, 1942, at Rock Church in Livingston.

Arlene graduated from Fennimore High School in 1940 and then worked at several jobs before becoming an employee at Livingston State Bank. She retired in 1991 after over 35 years of service. Arlene was an active member of the Livingston United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and graciously volunteered for numerous projects and activities. She loved working out in her yard, getting family together for picnics, making quilts for her grandchildren and church auctions, and making tea rings to share with her neighbors and family at Christmas time. Arlene was a hard working and lovely lady whose love of God and nurturing spirit will forever be remembered.

Arlene is survived by three children; Gloria (George) Tanner of Missouri City, TX, Abby (Jack) Lindner of Lancaster and David (Janet) Gundlach of Montfort; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Larson, Troy Gundlach and Amy Gundlach, all of Madison, Kathy (Tim) Leix of Montfort, Laura Turner of Sugarland, TX and Michelle (Neil) O’Koon of West Chester, OH, Steven (Sara) Lindner of DeWitt, IA, Stacey (Rick) Place of Lancaster and Susan (Jeff) Clifton of Lancaster, Shanna Ahrens of Dodgeville, Danielle (Tom) Reiter of Livingston and Heather (Andy) McNeill of Platteville. Arlene is also survived by 24 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Lila Gundlach of Madison.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Theodore in April 2002, son Elmore “Ted” Gundlach in October 2015 and brother J.W. Braudt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 9, 2018, at the Livingston United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening July 8, 2018 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning.
