Sheri Marlene Rossing

Sheri Marlene Rossing, age 63, of Boscobel, WI passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2022, due to complications from heart failure. Sheri was born on February 28, 1958, in Boscobel, WI, the daughter of Garald & Marian (Volenec) Rossing.  Sheri was raised in rural Fennimore, graduated from Fennimore High School in 1976, then attended UW LaCrosse.

Sheri developed a passion for running at an early age, and her passion spanned a 40-year career as an athlete, coach, or athletic director with Track.  In high school she was the first female athlete to go to State competition in track all four years, earning a total of six medals in the mile/mile relay. She was awarded the Senior Athlete of the Year and the prestigious “Badger W” award.   During her four years at UW LaCrosse she helped her team place 3rd and 5th in National meets, & served as captain for two years.

Upon graduating from UWL in 1981, Sheri was hired at Prairie du Chien HS as a physical education teacher & girls track & volleyball coach.  

Sheri moved to Denver in 1983 where she lived with her husband for 25 years. She taught physical education/health at Heritage HS for over 22 years and was the head coach for both boys & girls Track & Cross Country.  She also taught/coached at Arapahoe HS and served as the Athletic Director at Littleton HS for five years. Sheri received many awards and honors over the years. In 2018 Sheri was inducted into the Heritage High School Track & Cross-Country Coaching Hall of Fame.

Upon her retirement Sheri returned to WI and enjoyed spending time with family, working on the family farm, hunting, fishing, traveling & attending various family events.   Sheri loved to hunt, loved the outdoors, and could often be found at the farm helping with one of Dad’s many “projects.”

Sheri will be forever missed by her parents, Garald & Marian Rossing, siblings Randal (Roseann) Rossing, Kim (Shirley) Rossing, Ruth (Steve) Robertson, and Todd (Sarah) Rossing, as well as nieces & nephews Cassandra (JE) Hoffmann, Keith (Elaine Wong) Kelley, Curtis Rossing, Scott (Kassy Windus) Kelley, Joel Rossing, Ethan (Katie) Rossing, Ashton Rossing, Alison (Joe) Eigenberger, Evan Rossing, Jacque (Preston) Riemenapp, Eric (Courtney) Mallon & Seth (Anita) Robertson; many great nieces, nephews, aunts Shirley Baxter & Dorothy Volenec, very special friend Loren Lynch & many cousins, friends, and her cat Lucky.

Sheri was preceded in death by her grandparents, Oren & Ruth (Fingerson) Rossing and Paul & Hazel (Anderson) Volenec, nephews Peter Rossing & Guy Robertson, uncles Curt (Lenys) Rossing, Lauren (Eleanor) Rossing, Merlin (Maryann) Volenec, Dean Volenec, & Gary Baxter, aunts Viola (Fritz) Stich, Marcella (Barney) Stenner, Irene (Virgil) Lund, Carol (Glen) Fry, and many cousins.

Sheri’s MottoWork hard, believe in yourself, never give up & leave the right legacy.  Sheri lived by this motto and encouraged her students, family and friends to do the same.

While Sheri was taken too soon from our world, her imprint of who she was will never leave.  May God continue to bless you all & may Sheri rest in peace.  

Honoring and respecting Sheri’s wishes a private service will be held at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Cards of sympathy may be mailed to 925 10th St. Fennimore, WI 53809.
