James A. Horner

James “Jim” A. Horner, age 58, of Lancaster, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning November 25, 2021, in Lancaster. He was born December 18, 1962, in Mason City, IA, the son of Rodger and Mary (Burkholder) Horner.

Jim graduated from Parker High School and then received his butchering degree from Southwest Technical College in Fennimore. He was employed at The Butcher Shop in Fennimore until becoming the meat manager at Copps Foods in Madison. Jim returned to Fennimore and then received his welding degree from the Southwest Technical College. He was employed at Universal in Muscoda, Cleary Building, and later as a semi mechanic, along with becoming a carpenter and logger. Jim was a very generous man and was loyal to a fault. He was a very gracious man willing to help other and loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his son, Justin Horner of Fennimore, grandson Grayson Horner, Mother Mary Schultz of Fennimore, two sisters Jacqueline (Rodney) Wehrle of Fennimore, Rochelle Salisbury of Lancaster, brother Shannon (Jamie) Schultz of Fennimore, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Rodger “Buddy” Horner, brother Rodger Horner, brother-in-law Marvin Salisbury, grandparents Ella and Arthur Burkholder and Sophie and Rodger Horner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Platteville, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church Wednesday morning.
