Ronald L. Harris, age 85, of Fennimore, WI passed away on Monday November 1, 2021, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on September 1, 1936, in Bagley the son of Lee and Evelyn (Markley) Harris. He was united in marriage to Brenda Marshall on April 3, 1958, and then married Patricia Giversen on February 28, 1981.
Ron graduated from Bagley High School and then enlisted in the United State Army serving in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Ron served seven years in the Reserves. Ron was employed at John Deere of Dubuque, IA for 35 years, and he loved his job. He worked as an experimental test driver for equipment manufactured at the plant retiring in 1990. In his younger years, he loved sports. He encouraged kids to participate while he was coaching and enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved it all. Hunting, fishing, making jigs and lures; these activities in life were family events. He also was a carpenter, but most of all an innovator. Ron was always there for his family along with teaching them many life lessons along the way.
Ron is survived by his wife Patricia Harris of Fennimore, their eight children; Tami (Troy) Armagost of Wedowee, AL, Brian Harris of Grand Marsh, Nikki (Donald) Folger of Appleton, Wade (Laura) Harris of Waunakee, Nathan (Nicole) Harris of Lancaster, Andrea (Randy) Reeg of Dubuque, IA, Wendy Madsen of Prescott, AZ/Fennimore, Tracy (Jerry) Millin of Fennimore, son-in-law Brian Hauk of River Falls, 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, brother Robert (Karen) Harris of Prairie du Chien, sister Kathy (Rick) Bausch of Glen Haven, sister-in-law Ruth Anderson of Prairie du Chien, along with many special nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Murray.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jodi Hauk, grandson Nickolas Folger, two sisters: Linda Metcalf and Susan Johnson, father and mother-in-law Leland and Eleanor Giversen and his brothers-in-law Ronald Anderson and Jim Metcalf and his dog Scooter.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial of cremated remains to be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday morning. Immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home, the family invites everyone for food and time of fellowship at the Hilltop Tavern in Fennimore.
