Donald W. Ready, age 78, of Fennimore, WI, passed away on Wednesday morning October 20, 2021, at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1943, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Nick and Viola (Bausch) Ready. Don was united in marriage to Janet Galer on August 9, 1985, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore.
Don graduated from Cassville High School in 1961. In his younger years, he farmed in Cassville. He was employed at Skyline in Lancaster as a floor supervisor for 28 years until retiring in 2008. Don was a great handyman who was able to repair, build, or remodel anything. One of his greatest joys was the special relationship with his wife and marrying into such a loving and special family. He especially adored his kids and grandchildren. Don enjoyed riding motorcycles and later his UTV, camping along with hiking and biking state trails, fishing, and traveling. He was also an avid reader and was proud of serving on the Dwight Parker Library Board. Don’s quiet nature and his devotion to his family will be deeply missed.
Don is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 36 years, Jan, of Fennimore, four children; Kim (Mike) Kirschbaum of Branson, MO, Christine (Roland) Reuter of Potosi, Steven (Rebecca) Ready of San Antonio, TX, and Misty (Jeremy) Timm of Cassville, grandchildren; Allison, Bryce, and Garon Kirschbaum, Ashley (Matt) Abing, Adam Foster, Tyler Eng, Austin and Aysha Ready, Quintin and Lainey Riedl, Marc, Abby, and Chloe Timm, great grandchildren; Adrianna, Kolton, and McKenzie Abing, and Landon and Lane Foster, sister and brothers-in-laws; Joanne Schmitz of Sheboygon Falls, Marilyn (Dan) Digman of Fennimore, Roberta Galer of Fennimore, Sherry (David) Schaefer of Fennimore, along with many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, son-in-law Korey Eng, granddaughter Danielle Foster, great grandchildren Leah Foster and Austin Reuter, mother and father-in-law Leonard and Hazel Galer, and sisters-in-law Bernice Galer and Karen Hunsbusher, and brothers-in-laws Lennie and David Galer.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon Oct. 24, 2021, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with food and fellowship to follow in the church hall. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church on Sunday. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Charles Cemetery in Cassville. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family.
