Barry Dean Belstra, age 65, of Fennimore, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday morning October 6th, 2021, at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque, IA surrounded by his family. He was born on April 28, 1956, in Rensselare, IN the son of Herman and Eileen (Bailey) Belstra.
In his younger years, Barry lived in Lowell, IN until he and his family moved to Fennimore in 1973. Barry graduated from Fennimore High School in the class of 1974. He entered the workforce and was later employed by the City of Fennimore beginning on May 18, 1981. Barry worked for the city for 40 years and was the Superintendent of the Street Department at the time of his passing. Barry enjoyed working on vehicles, helping area farmers, or just going for long car rides throughout the area. He was a selfless father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Barry was the definition of what a man should be.
Barry is survived by his two daughters LeeAnn (Josh) Droessler of Lancaster and Jessica Belstra (Rodney) of Fennimore, seven grandchildren: Myles Bender, Macie, Bender, Myleigh Bender, Merritt Droessler, Mallen Droessler, Rajai Morris, and Jaiden Morris, two brothers: Jeff (Jane) Belstra of Fennimore and Randy (Ulla) Belstra of Belleville, IL along with many nieces and nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joel Belstra.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday October 10, 2021, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Barry Belstra. If attending services, the wearing of masks is optional.
