Robert D. Irish

Robert “Bob” D. Irish, age 85, of Reedsburg, WI formerly of Fennimore passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday morning September 15, 2021, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. Bob was born on June 17, 1936, in Potosi Township the son of Ted and Edith (Gillian) Irish. He graduated from Platteville High School and then from UW-Platteville. Bob married the love of his life Phyllis Bark on December 26, 1959.

Bob was the Industrial Arts teacher at Fennimore High School for a few years until owning and operating his own business. Being a “Jack of all Trades”, Irish Paint and Hardware was started in Fennimore where he and Phyllis established many special relationships with fellow customers over the years. They always welcomed you with a big smile and were ready to help. After several years of operating a successful business, He and Phyllis sold their hardware store and relocated to Reedsburg to be closer to his daughter and her family. Bob enjoyed going out with friends and making many lifelong memories. He also liked going on hunting trips and fishing with Phyllis and his grandchildren.   

Bob will be remembered for his dedication to family and friends, hardworking personality, who always had time to laugh, and his infectious smile and positive attitude. Bob left a lasting impression with everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed. 

Bob is survived by his daughter Joellyn (Kevin) Helmeid of Reedsburg, five grandchildren: Mitchell (Courtney) of Sun Prairie, Brockton of Madison, Casen, Brogan and Emma, sister Marilyn (Carson) Culver of Richland Center, sister-in-law Mary (Allie) Martin of Bloomington, brother-in-law Roger (Donna) Bark of Bloomington and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis on October 19, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday afternoon September 20, 2021, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Little Grant Cemetery, in Little Grant Township, Grant County with military honors. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday afternoon.
