Duane K. Gilbertson, age 71, of Fennimore passed away on Thursday evening February 25, 2021 at University Hospital and Clinics in Madison. He was born on May 3, 1949 in Lancaster the son of Keith and Lois (Calvert) Gilbertson. Duane was united in marriage to Diane Ladika on May 10, 1985 and was later married to Judy Lis on October 8, 1998.
Duane graduated from Fennimore High School. He began driving dump truck for Needham Trucking for numerous years until trucking for Croft’s and later Bard until he retirement. Missing the time behind the wheel, Duane later did seasonal and part time driving for Premier in Fennimore. He was a simple man and loved his simple routine. Catching up each morning with the daily news, being sure to follow all sport, especially the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers, including the PBR Rodeo. He enjoyed his daily stops, having a drink, visiting with his friends, and always ready to say “Hello”. Duane also enjoyed making homemade wine and was very gracious to share it with all his friends. He adored his daughters and was a proud grandfather that was always there to support all their endeavors.
Duane is survived by his two daughters; Sarah (John) Torgerson and Heather (Shawn) Kieler both of Fennimore, eight grandchildren; Mariah and Ashley Lang, Drew Torgerson, Shiloh, Kiersten, Cameron, and Dalton Wolf and Brady Wetter, along with his brother Gene Gilbertson of Fennimore.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Judy Gilbertson on January 23, 2013.
At the request of Duane, there will be no formal memorial services held at this time. There will be a “Celebration of Life” held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon May 8, 2021 at the Hilltop Tavern in Fennimore. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family.
