Elizabeth K. "Betty" Duff

Elizabeth K. “Betty” Duff, age 59, of Fennimore passed away peacefully on Monday morning February 15, 2021 at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing Services in Fennimore. She was born on May 23, 1961 in Boscobel the daughter of John and Mary (Stanek) Kohout. Betty was united in marriage to Stephen “Jeff” Duff on November 4, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV.

Elizabeth graduated from Fennimore High School in 1979. She went to the U.W. Madison and received her Bachelor’s degree in 1983 majoring in Fiber Chemistry. She furthered her education at North Carolina State where she received her Master’s degree in Fiber Chemistry in 1987. Working a few years in North Carolina, Betty wanted to return home, closer to family. In 1990, she was employed at 3M in St. Paul, MN as a Chemical Engineer in the abrasives department. In 2000, she and Jeff moved to Fennimore to raise their family. For the past three years, Betty worked at Wal-Mart in Platteville as an Optical Assistant until having to retire due to her declining health.

Elizabeth was a dedicated wife, mother and to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved raising her family and was happy to put her own career on hold. She enjoyed volunteering with Cub Scouts, the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and any other events where she may be needed. Betty also liked to crochet, make soap, and puzzle games.  She will be remembered for her cheerful, pleasant personality, along with her big heart, which was always willing to help others.  

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Jeff of Fennimore, six sons; Jackson John Duff of Fennimore, Stephen Dale Duff of Fennimore, Matthew Tanner Duff of San Francisco, CA, Tucker Jennings Duff of Fennimore, twin boys; Cormac Patrick Duff of Fennimore, and Garrett Scott Duff of Madison, four brothers; John (Dianne) Kohout of Montfort, Ken (Anita) Kohout of Montfort, Anthony Kohout of Madison, Ron (Barb) Kohout of Fennimore, three sisters; Rose Mary (Gary) Kershaw of Montello, Carol (Dennis) Washa of Monroeville, PA, Marilyn (Bob) Dressler of Lancaster along with many special nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents.

Due to the continued pandemic, a “Service of Remembrance” for Elizabeth K. Duff will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the St. John Nepomuc Catholic Church Cemetery in Castle Rock.
