Joan V. Riley, age 84, of Boscobel, WI passed away on Thursday August 6, 2020 at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fennimore. She was born on April 7, 1936 in Lynden, WA the daughter of Lee and Lola (Hillhouse) Markin. Joan was united in marriage to Ted Riley on Jan 23rd, 1955 in Mt. Zion and soon began their family of eight children.
Joan loved her role as a homemaker and farm wife. She took great pride in taking care of her family, maintaining the home and was a great cook. Joan was very proud of each of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. Joan also loved working around the farm, especially in her garden.
Joan is survived by her seven children; Patrick (Dana) Riley of Wauseon, OH, Kerry Riley of Boscobel, Kim (Don Schmidt) Riley of Kendall, Todd (Barbara) Riley of Boscobel, Jody (Paulette) Riley of Mt. Zion, Karla (Don) Scott of Muscoda, Corbin (Kelly) Riley of Boscobel, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, two sisters Mary Brown and Lois Sladkey, sister and brother-in-law Karen and Joe Chabela.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years, Ted Riley, and her son Robert “Robbie” Riley, sister Leola and two brother–in-laws; Cash Brown and Sidney Brown.
Honoring the request of Joan, there will be no formal memorial service at this time. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Boscobel Cemetery. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family and memorials and cards of sympathy may be sent here at 925 10th St. Fennimore, WI 53809.
The family would like to lovingly express their appreciation to Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fennimore for their exceptional care of Joan the last 18 months. You all rose above the pandemic crisis the last five months to love, entertain and comfort Joan for which we can not thank you all enough-CNA’s, nursing, house keeping, dietary, activities, laundry, therapy, administration…. Each and every one of you made a difference.
