Robert L. “Bob” Chapman, aged 81, of Glen Haven died peacefully at home, Friday, July 3rd 2020 surrounded by a whole lot of love.
Bob was born on December 13th, 1938 in Beetown Township on the family farm to John and Dorothy (Wamsley) Chapman. He attended his first 8 years of school at Muscallounge Grade School and then graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. He joined the United States Air Force on August 16, 1956 and was honorably discharged on August 15, 1962. After 4 years of active duty and two years of inactive duty, he married Bonnie “Bon Jon” R. Adrian on May 22, 1965, and together they raised 4 great kids.
Bob worked for Pride Seed Company and Golden Harvest Seed until his retirement. He was a past member of the Bloomington School Board and a 34 year member of the Glen Haven Fire Department. Bob also enjoyed most sports, but his favorite was probably bowling, having won numerous awards during his many years of league bowling. He could also be known to handle a cue-stick pretty well and play a mean game of cards. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He was a very active grandparent who was dearly loved by his grandkids and always there to support them during their many events. He was also always willing to share a bowl of ice cream with them.
Bob is survived by his kind, caring, much loved, and willful wife of 55 years, Bonnie, three children; Kenneth (Dallas) Chapman of Poynette, Ann Reynolds of Potosi, and Lea (Matt) Breuer of Cassville; daughter-in law, Becky Chapman, of McFarland; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany, Katie, and Emily Chapman, London Chapman, Andrew Chapman, Alex and Lily Reynolds, and Jacob, Ruby, and Jared Breuer; 5 great-grandchildren; in-laws Marlene (Richard) Esser and Owen (Judy) Adrian; 5 siblings, Shirley Duncan, Beverly Nivarel, Marilyn (Cal) Dunnington, Karen (Ken) Young, and Gene (Sue) Chapman.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Danny on February 1, 2017, his brother, Harold, his mother and father in-law, Carl and Sally Adrian, and his parents, John and Dorothy.
