Donita "Blondie" Blackbourn

Donita “Blondie” Blackbourn, age 63, of Fennimore passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening June 8, 2020 at the Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. She was born on March 17, 1957 in Maquoketa, Iowa the daughter of Owen and Patricia (Wallace) Bean. Blondie was united in marriage to Tom “Rocky” Blackbourn on June 17, 1983 in Fennimore.

Blondie moved to Fennimore from Maquoketa in 1982. She did babysitting in the community for several years until being employed with the Fennimore School District in the food service department. Blondie was a dedicated employee for the past 28 years.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and dear friends at their cabin in Bagley. She enjoyed going out on the river in the pontoon, fishing, or just sitting on her deck or around a fire having a cocktail. Blondie loved celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and loved to surprise the kids and staff at the Fennimore Schools with numerous costumes.

Blondie had a wonderful personality and was passionate about life. She lived everyday to its fullest and was an absolute pleasure to be around, she brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

Blondie is survived by her beloved husband “Rocky” of Fennimore, four boys; Marty (Heidi) O’Meara of Fennimore, Corrie O’Meara of Livingston, Nick (Emily) Blackbourn of Fennimore and Jay (Amanda Simpson) Blackbourn of Fennimore, eight grandchildren; Owen and Dylan O’Meara, Layna, Ridley and Lexy O’Meara, Reid and Etta Blackbourn, and Tay Simpson, two brothers; David and Doug Bean both of Maquoketa, IA, and her mother-in-law Donna Blackbourn of Fennimore.

Blondie was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon June 14, 2020 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with a “Celebration of Blondie’s life” to immediately follow at BD’s Eagles Nest with food and fellowship. There will be no formal funeral service held at this time. The Larson Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.
