Bette Ann Hoffman

Bette Ann Hoffman, age 73, of Lancaster formerly of Glen Haven, passed away on Sunday evening April 12, 2020 surrounded by her beloved family.  She was born on January 6, 1947 in Platteville, the daughter of Embert and Arlene (Adrian) Wackershauser. Bette Ann graduated from Bloomington High School. She was united in marriage to Jerome A. “Jerry” Hoffman on August 28, 1965 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glen Haven.

While farming outside of Bloomington, Bette also worked for the Bloomington School District as a teacher’s aid.  In 1985, Bette and Jerry purchased Wacks Bar in Glen Haven from her parents. Together, they owned and operated a very successful business until selling the bar in 2002. Loving her job and being around people, Bette went to work at the Up The Street Bar in Glen Haven until 2019 and having to retire due to her declining health.

Bette adored her family, especially supporting her grandchildren, and spending time with her very special dog Boo.  She also enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching. Bette donated the scarfs and blankets she made to foster children. She also loved to fish, go to the Wisconsin Badger football games, and especially their Rose Bowl games, along with many trips to Las Vegas. Bette Ann’s dedication to her family, the community of Glen Haven will be cherished forever.

Bette Ann is survived by her two children; son Todd (Karen) Hoffman of Deerfield, daughter Leah Ann (Chris) Myers of Lancaster, three grandchildren; Cortney (Sam) Weinstock, Cody (Ella Marcue) Glass and Tyler (Alexandra Hirsch) Glass, two great grandchildren; Evelyn and Eleanor Weinstock, sister Connie (John) Horkeimer of Bloomington, Bruce (Bonnie Dailey) Wackershauser, along with many nieces and nephews which she shared many special bonds with each and every one of them.

Bette Ann was preceded in death by her parents Embert and Arlene Wackershauser, and her husband Jerry on February 4, 2014.

In keeping with Bette’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial services held in her memory at this time. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Bette Ann Hoffman.
