Steven John Becker, 70, of Fennimore passed away March 20, 2019 at his residence. Steven was born October 17, 1948 in Lancaster, WI., son of Loren "Spider" and Ruth (Blackbourn) Becker.
Steve graduated from Fennimore high School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1970 during the Vietnam War. On February 23, 1974, he married Cindy (Bennett) in Stitzer. He was an avid outdoors man enjoying hunting with his family especially his granddaughters and his son. He was involved with different fast-pitch softball teams including Koschkee Transfer, Wilkinson's Auction and many other teams.
He was employed at Fennimore Silo, Koschkee Transfer, and retired from the city of Fennimore in 2015 after 21 years. Steve and Cindy enjoyed many trips to the cabin up North and visiting casinos with friends. Steve enjoyed a cold Bud Light with friends and family. Grandchildren were his pride and joy. Fondly known as "Grandpa's Taxi".
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughter, Heidi Loy, Fiancee, Brad Hood, Stitzer, son, Brandon (Becky) of Fennimore and four grandchildren, Dezirae Hood, MaKenna Waltz-Dempsey, Meah Becker, and Lauryn Becker, two sisters, Sandy (Bill) Klug of Stitzer and Sue Becker (Judy Foster) of St. Cloud, MN., step-mother, Pat Becker, of Lancaster.
Preceded in death by his parents, Spider and Ruth Becker, in-laws Reverend Fletcher and Dorothy Bennett also many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church officiating by Ty Hines. Friends may call at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019, also at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
Burial will be at a later date. Military honors will be accorded by the Whitish-Funk American Legion Post No. 184 Fennimore. In lieu of flowers and plants, a memorial fund is being established in memory of Steve Becker.
