Lloyd H. "Hoopie" Vickers

Lloyd “Hoopie” Howard Vickers, age 63, of Highland, WI died on Monday evening Feb. 11, 2019 at his residence in Highland surrounded by his loving family.  Lloyd was born on July 10, 1955 in Peoria, IL the son of Lloyd and Gertrude (Atterberry) Vickers. He was united in marriage to Judy A. Laufenberg on Dec. 31, 2010 in Knoxville, TN.

Lloyd dedicated his life to his Lord, family and church family. He took great pride working as a media director for churches in the Knoxville area. He was a dedicated member of theRio Church of Knoxville, the River Church of Knoxville, and the Westside Community Church of God. Due to his declining health, Lloyd and Judy moved to Highland to be closer to family. He became an active member of the Edmund Episcopal Free Church, The Highland Area Historical Society, and The Highland Lions Club.  Lloyd had a great appreciation for the Smokey Mountains and the surrounding area, liked spending time participating in church revivals, but adored spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren the most.

Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife Judy of Highland, four step children; Sheri Esser of Highland, Teri (Mike) Spink of Highland, Mary Ramsden of Highland and Jeri (Brian Strassman) Esser of Sun Prairie, nine step grandchildren; Abigail Woods, Alicia Ramsden, Austin Miura, Alyssa Miura, Alexis Miura, Ashton Miura, Allysen Spink, Addysen Spink, Alyvia Esser.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon March 3rd, 2019 at the Highland Fire Station for friends and family. A celebration of life will be held in Tennessee at a later date.  The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family.
