LaVern H. Sinjen, age 80, of Fennimore formerly of Beloit passed away on Sunday morning Aug. 12, 2018 at his residence in Fennimore. He was born on Nov. 27, 1937 in Roscoe, IL the son of Louis and Rose (Seyffer) Sinjen. He was united in marriage to Carol Volden on March 21, 1964, in Rockford, IL.
LaVern graduated from Pepin High School and was drafted in the U.S. Army, serving from Aug. 15, 1960 until being honorable discharged on Aug. 14, 1962. Following his return from the service, LaVern returned back to Pepin until moving to Beloit. LaVern worked as a machinist for Warner Electric in Beloit until his retirement after 31 years of employment. LaVern was an avid woodworker and owned his own mill at his residence; specializing in furniture. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. LaVern enjoyed visiting with friends and always had time to help others in need. LaVern and Carol had been currently residing in Fennimore to be closer to family.
LaVern is survived by his wife Carol of Fennimore and their three sons; Brad of Fennimore, Wayne of Brodhead, and David (Dawn) of Weddington, NC, along with two nieces; Wanda (Bob) Haas and Dana Moline both of Beloit.
LaVern was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rita Moline.
Memorial services will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday Aug. 18, 2018 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore where visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
