John D. “Jack” Northouse, age 92, of Fennimore, died on Saturday morning, Aug. 11, 2018, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. John was born on Nov.6, 1925 in Belmont Township in Belmont, WI the Son of Frank and Emma (Schuchart) Northouse. He married the love of his life, Imelda Riemenapp on Feb. 19, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.
Jack and Imelda along with their eight children farmed in Hickory Grove Township north of Fennimore for more than fifty years until moving into Fennimore in 2005. He was very proud of the special relationship and bond of the Breezy Hill and Ideal neighborhoods and has held the memories through the years close to his heart. Later in life, Jack worked several years at the Fennimore Roller Mills and the Grant County boat landings. He also served as a member of the Fennimore School Board for 21 years. When time allowed, Jack enjoyed snowmobiling, playing euchre and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and neighbors.
John is survived by his eight children, John Jr. (JoEllen) Northouse of Bagley, Bob (Jan) Northouse of Dubuque, IA, Karen (Bill) Gebhard of Blue Mounds, Mary (Kenny) Schaefer of Muscoda, Mike (Jeannine) Northouse of Cottage Grove, Gary (Vicki) Northouse of Fennimore, Alan (Mary) Northouse of Rewey and Dave (Dee) Northouse of Fennimore, 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters; Mary Cook of Middleton, Ann Wood of Bagley, Gertrude Fiedler of Platteville and a brother-in-law Ambrose Riemenapp of Lynxville, WI
John was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 71 years, Imelda, on Jan. 20, 2018, two brothers; Norman and Paul Northouse, sister Teresa Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning Aug. 15, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 A.M - 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of John D. “Jack” Northouse. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
