Danny R. Johns

Montfort – Danny Ray “Harry” Johns, age 63, died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, May 6, 2018, at his residence in rural Montfort. Danny was born on July 14, 1954, in Dodgeville, WI, the son of Harry and Melva (DiVall) Johns. He married Sandy Bryant on March 28, 1981 in Reno, Nevada.

After graduating from Iowa-Grant High School in 1972, Dan attended UW-Platteville for two years before pursuing his true passion of farming. Dan eventually purchased the family farm in 1978, which has since been proudly recognized as a Century Farm by the State of Wisconsin. In addition to farming, Dan worked part time as a crop hail adjuster for Rural Insurance where he loved the conversations with other farmers. Dan was an avid sports fan, especially the Packers, Brewers and Badgers and he loved playing cards whenever he could. Dan’s greatest joy in life came in spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He always looked forward to days when the kids didn’t have school and made sure the path between their house and his was always mowed. Dan will forever be remembered for his natural sense of humor and for all the smiles he put on peoples faces.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife Sandy of Montfort; two daughters, Jessica (Eric) Hrubes of Montfort and Jennifer Johns and husband Rick Sokolowski of Saint Francis, WI; two grandchildren, Rilya and Ryker Hrubes; two sisters, Joy (Randy) Trollop of Wausau and Jill (Jeff) Cordes of Austin, MN and many special nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Doug Johns and infant sister Mary Johns.
