Russell E. Dressler Sr., age 72, of Bloomington and formerly of Lancaster, died on Sunday evening Jan. 8, 2017, at his residence in Bloomington. Russell was born on Sept. 28, 1944, in Mt. Hope, WI, the son of Leo and Isabelle (Gotzinger) Dressler. He married Sarah “Sally” Giesen on Nov. 12, 1977 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Russell farmed throughout Grant County until 1992. He then worked for Wyalusing Academy and Spahn and Rose Lumber Company in Prairie du Chien. He last worked at Lancaster Interiors before retiring in 2003 due to his health. Russell enjoyed hunting and fishing, crocheting, and above all else, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a hard working and honest man who would do anything to help someone in need.
Russell is survived by his wife Sarah “Sally” Dressler of Bloomington; four children, Kay (Kevin) Bausch of Cassville, Greg (Abby) Dressler of Dodgeville, Christine Dressler of Steuben and Stacey (Michael) Doyle of Lancaster; three stepchildren, Lisa (Bob) Klocke of Lancaster, Donald (Kris) Mullikin of Janesville and Brenda (Ben) Davies of McGregor, IA, 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, son Russell Jr., grandson Tyler Dressler, sister Katherine Wilkinson and brothers, John, Eugene, Richard and Jerry Dressler.
