Daniel R. Vorwald, age 82 of Rewey, died on Wednesday morning March 4, 2015 at Bloomfield Manor in rural Dodgeville. Daniel was born on Oct. 16, 1932 in Canyon, Texas the son of George and Maria (Schmitz) Vorwald. He married Judith Gabel on Sept. 10, 1960.
Dan and his family farmed in Texas before purchasing a farm and moving to rural Bloomington, WI when Dan was in the 8th grade. Following graduation from Bloomington High School, Dan enlisted in the US Army from 1954-1956. Upon returning home he continued farming in the Bloomington area before moving to Rewey in 1977. In addition to farming, Dan worked as a custodian for Iowa Grant School District from 1983 until his retirement in 1992. Dan was a lifetime member of the VFW and a founding member of the Bloomington Knights of Columbus.
Dan is survived by his wife Judith of Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Dodgeville, three children; Christine Roman of Fennimore, Steven (Cindy) Vorwald of Fennimore, and Craig (Kathy) Vorwald of Lancaster, five grandchildren; Devon, Ronald, Saretta, Mitchell and Jackson, a great-grandson Michael, and bother Norbert Vorwald of Bloomington.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brother William Vorwald.
