Fennimore, WI-Beverly Grace Copsey, age 83, died on Saturday Oct. 4, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Beverly was born on Feb. 10, 1931 in Ferryville, WI the daughter of James and Berneta (Bross) Johnston. Beverly was united in marriage to Roy Copsey on Aug. 6, 1949 at the Freeman Lutheran Church in Ferryville, WI.
Beverly graduated from Seneca High School. She loved being a wonderful homemaker and raising her family. She worked at the Mt. Hope Café a couple of years until being employed at Rayovac where she retired in 1993 after 20 years of service. Beverly loved music, enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the church choir and at weddings, and dancing with her beloved husband. Beverly and Roy truly enjoyed their retirement together. They spent time golfing, fishing, playing cards with family and friends, wintering in Arizona, and doing extensive traveling throughout the country. Beverly was a former member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, the Prairie du Chien and Fennimore Country Club’s, and a current member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church. Visits to Grandma’s were met with a warm welcome and heartfelt generosity towards her children and grandchildren. Beverly was a wonderful cook of homemade noodles, lutefisk, and lefsa. She felt very blessed with an awesome husband for so many years, three children and numerous grand and great-grandchildren whom she cherished deeply.
Beverly is survived by her three children; Jacqueline (Tom) Stivarius of Fennimore, Mary (Steve) Wilson of Caledonia, IL, and Terry (Jean Olson) Copsey of Fennimore, WI, seven grandchildren; Brian (Christina) Gilkes of Oshkosh, Lynn Gilkes of Fennimore, Jamie (Josh) Ryan of Roscoe, IL, Melissa (Fiancé Peter Bevin) Wilson of Manly, Australia, Travis (Kelly) Copsey of Bloomington, Josh (Megan) Copsey of Bloomington, and Nate (Lindsey) Copsey of Bloomington, four step grandchildren; Matt (Lisa) Stivarius of LaCrescent, MN, Joe (Dani) Stivarius of Milton, Luke (Billie) Stivarius of Cottage Grove, and Nikki Stivarius of Davenport, IA; along with 12 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by two sister-in-laws; Georgia Copsey of Aurora, CO, and Norma Johnston of Ferryville, WI.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, brothers; Robert Johnston, James C. Johnston Jr., and infant brother Keith Johnston, and brother-in-law Don Copsey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday Oct. 9, 2014 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with Rev. Duane Andrus officiating. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Thursday morning.
