Lois M. Mattix

MONTFORT – Lois Mattix, age 68, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on April 16, 1958, to Leroy and Lois Chambers.

The sixth of seven children, Lois spent her early years in Glenview, Illinois, before her family moved to Wisconsin. She graduated from Middleton High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A driven professional, Lois ran her own accounting firm in Kansas City before returning to Wisconsin, where she met her “husband,” Robert “Bob” Mattix. The two settled in Deerfield to start a family, where they had their two daughters. During this time, Lois had a dedicated career as a credit manager at the Douglas Stewart Company.

When medical complications led to an early retirement, Lois made the most of her time with her children. Despite those complications, she devoted her life to raising her girls, never missing an event. She later retired in Montfort, Wisconsin, enjoying her time with her children and grandchildren.

Lois was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who will be forever missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lois, and her beloved “husband,” Bob. She is survived by her daughters, Allison Mattix (Jack Nowak) and Janna Mattix (Zach Johnson), and her grandchildren, Brantley Mattix, Ackli Nowak, Isabel Johnson, and Annie Johnson.

A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Lois leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and deep devotion to her family that will live on in the hearts of everyone she met. She will forever be loved and missed.

Love you Mostest.
