FENNIMORE - Marilyn J. Davies, age 93, passed away on Tuesday November 11, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison. She was born on November 30, 1931, the daughter of Orville and Laura (Baker) Lyght.
Marilyn was a hardworking and devoted farm wife who filled her life with her family, community, and faith. On December 8, 1948, Marilyn was united in marriage to Stanley Davies and began their farming journey together in Fennimore Township. They remained on the farm until moving to town in the fall of 1978. No matter where life took her, Marilyn’s strong work ethic and dedication to her family never changed.
Marilyn was employed at the bakery in town before moving on to work for Southwest Library on the bookmobile. She eventually began driving for area Amish communities, cherishing the time spent driving the children to school. Marilyn was a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church, a main leader for the Golden Gates 4-H, and a member of the West Grant and Fennimore Trailblazers Saddle Clubs.
A talented baker and cook, Marilyn was always ready to share a meal with family and friends, making sure nobody ever left her home hungry. She made sure everybody around her was well cared for, pouring her heart into every dessert she baked and meal she served. She was known for her delicious desserts - especially her homemade donuts. She enjoyed cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, tending to the flowers in her yard, working on word searches and painting ceramics.
Marilyn is survived by her six children: Maxine (Dennis) Wachter of Mount Hope, Barbara (Gary) Kovars of Boscobel, Diane (Richard) Wilkinson of Fennimore, Jackie Hatlevig of Fennimore, Stan (Heidi) Davies of Oregon, and John Davies of Fennimore. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildre; five great great grandchildren; and sister Joanne (Dick) Rice of Platteville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley on May 22, 2006; son-in-law Larry Hatlevig; and siblings: Clifford Lyght, Dick Lyght, Lois Brunton, Beverly Wackershauser, and Norma Orton.
