Linda J. Zart

MOUNT IDA - Linda J. Zart, age 74, passed away at home on Thursday October 2, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a long courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gerhig’s disease). She was born on January 1, 1951; the daughter of Edward & Dorothy (Trygstad) Hofstetter. On December 6, 1969, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Zart at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore.

Linda spent her entire adult life on the family farm with Glenn, where she worked hard, raised her children, and later welcomed her grandchildren. She was a stay-at-home Mom and farm wife until her children got older. She then worked outside the home at various places mainly in food service and hospitality jobs. After working outside the home for 15 years she started the most fulfilling job of taking care of and helping raise three of her grandchildren. She loved gardening, baking, crafting and she never passed up a chance to find a good deal at a garage sale. Her sister Carol was often along for the adventure of finding new treasures. She collected cookbooks and snowmen and had quite a large assortment of both. Linda enjoyed the simple country life and would often go for rides on the hill or throughout the countryside enjoying all that nature had to offer.

Linda’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren were the heart of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to spoil them. She looked forward to watching her favorite soap operas and westerns with her grandson Tanner, who faithfully cared for and kept her company throughout her illness. Linda spoke her mind honestly and could be stubborn and sassy at times but was always taking care of others. Her family will remember her quick humor, her stubborn streak, and the way she made sure everyone knew how deeply they were loved.

Linda is survived by her loving children: Tricia (Jeremy) Lansing, Brian (Amber) Zart, and Sheri (Justin Walls) Zart and six grandchildren: Tyler, Tec, Tanner, Stella, Taylen, and Brayson. She is also survived by her siblings: David Hofstetter (Lucy McCarrick), Duane (Patsy) Hofstetter, Denis Hofstetter (Lorre Brown), and Carol (Doug) Needham. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Glenn in 2024.

In lieu of plants and flowers, donations can be made to Grant County Hospice, the ALS Association, or the Epilepsy Foundation.
