Della Mae Norby

MONTFORT – Della Mae Norby, age 92, passed away on Monday April 21, 2025, at Dove Healthcare in Fennimore. She was born on July 1, 1932, the daughter of Jacob and Violet (Williams) Frederickson. Della was united in marriage to Gilbert “Gil” Norby on September 1, 1956. They shared 36 years of marriage before Gil passed away in 1992.

Della graduated high school in 1950 and made Montfort her home in 1969. She was a dedicated member of her church, Peace Lutheran in Cobb, where she served for many years as Church Secretary and Sunday School superintendent. She cared deeply about her church community and loved working with children. She also spent 25 years at the Montfort library, where her love of reading and learning was a perfect fit. Della stayed active in the community through the Montfort on the Move Committee and enjoyed travelling, camping and square dancing. She and Gil traveled to many craft shows, sharing the beading and woodworking projects

Della is survived by two children, Don (Deb) Norby and Ron (Sue) Norby; three grandchildren: Brian (Christina) Norby, Samantha (Carl III) Winkers, and Bradley Norby; and six great grandchildren: Anabelle, Bridget, and Carl IV Winkers and Heather, Lydia, and Elizabeth Norby. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gil; daughter, Denise Norby; and four siblings: Jim Frederickson, Betty Harris, Fern Kreul, and Earl Frederickson.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church in Cobb or Montfort Public Library.
