Janice Yvonne Klar

FENNIMORE - Janice Yvonne Klar, age 70, passed away peacefully with her beloved husband and family by her side, on Saturday December 14, 2024, at her residence in Fennimore, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on January 5, 1954; the daughter of Hubert and Velma (Meyer) Lins.

Janice was united in marriage to Michael Klar on August 12, 1982, in Platteville. A proud graduate of UW – Platteville with a bachelor’s degree in education, she dedicated her life to caring for the elderly and disabled. Janice’s work was a reflection of her deep compassion and commitment to serving others.

Her faith played a central role in her life. As a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore, Janice dedicated countless hours in the adoration chapel, offering her prayers and love to God. She especially loved to pray the rosary. She also volunteered with the Pregnancy Hotline. Janice’s warm heart and kindness were evident in all she did, and she will be remembered for the light she brought into the lives of so many.

Janice’s love for her family knew no limits. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, always present for her grandchildren’s activities, cheering them on with pride and joy. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, creating memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Her love of friends and family extended to her joy of travelling, trips with friends and family, including her beloved “sister trips” touring wineries and the many ADRC trips she participated in over the years.

Janice is survived by her husband Michael; four children: Gretchen (Jerry) Hauck, Joshua (Laci) Cummings, Michael Klar Jr., and Christina (Matt) Vanderbilt; six grandchildren: Trent Fordney, Ariana and Lily Hauck, Violet and Douglas Cummings, and Maci Klar; her great-grandson, Treyvon Fordney, and four sisters; Sharon (John) Esser, Linda Lins, Mary Sue Klun and Lisa (Richard) Denu along with many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christopher Klar; daughter-in-law, Breanne Klar; brother, Dennis Lins, and brother-in-law, Joe Klun.

Janice’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Grant County Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care as she went through her brief journey with cancer. They also thank Fr. Carlos at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for his unwavering support, along with the many family and friends that offered their love and assistance in her final months.
