Delores “Dee” M. Updike

BOSCOBEL – Delores “Dee” Margaret Updike, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Delores was born on May 14, 1931, in Milwaukee; the daughter of Adolph and Margaret (Felton) Burnhardt. On July 3, 1950, Delores married Glenwood R. Updike in Waukegan, IL. They began their married life in Milwaukee, where they started their family of 10 children. They eventually ended up in the Boscobel area where they farmed for many years. After the passing of Glenwood, Delores went to work for Land’s End, where she worked for 20 years until the age of 78. Delores loved planting and taking care of her flowers. She also enjoyed shopping and going on visits to see her children and grandchildren who lived out of town. She loved her family so much. They were her whole world.

Delores will be missed by her nine children: Cheryl (Gary) Scholbrock of Belvidere, IL, Robin Updike and special friend, Donna of Platteville, WI, Carol Updike of Gays Mills, WI, Glen (Shelly) Updike of Boscobel, WI, Zina Owens of Cross Plains, WI, Lisa Jones and fiancé, Tom of Boscobel, WI, Linda Updike-Bader and special friend, Warren of Boscobel, WI, Bonnie (Bob) Payne of Blue River, WI, and Bill Updike of Windsor, WI. She will also be missed by her 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, with two more due to arrive in February. She will be further missed by many nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; all seven of her siblings; and one son, Jimmy.

Delores’ family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care during the last two months of her life. We are grateful for the comfort they also provided to our family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be given to Agrace Hospice.
