Fennimore, WI-Elizabeth J. “Betty” Kroll, age 92, passed away on Sunday August 27, 2023, at the Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing with her family by her side. She was born on June 15, 1931, in Highland the daughter of Edward and Cecilia (Prochaska) Nechvatal. Betty was united in marriage to Cletus Kroll on August 23, 1950, in Montfort.
Betty graduated from Fennimore High School. After her marriage to Cletus, they began farming in Cobb until purchasing their farm by Preston located in Fennimore Township. Together they farmed until the early 1980’s until their son Gary took over the family farm. Betty also worked at the Preston Cheese Factory, doing clerical work for Dave Everson with Rural Insurance, and Cheer’s II in Preston, cooking in their kitchen.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her garden and playing cards with family and friends. She especially adored her grandchildren; they brought so much joy. Betty was an avid sports fan and loved watching her grandchildren participate in athletics and was a big fan of professional football and basketball. Betty’s family will forever cherish her love for laughter and the fact of never being lost for words, and her never ending love for her family.
Betty is survived by her three children; Diane (Bruce) Novinska of Lansing, IA, Christy (Bill) Kirschbaum of Stitzer, and Donna (Phil) Edge of Belleville, eight grandchildren; Melissa (Joshua) Walker, Joshua Novinska, Lindsey Kirschbaum, Holly (Kenny) Straka, Jeremy (Tashina) Kroll, Kelly (John) Foley, Becky (Randy) VanderHeiden, and Jamie (Jodie) Kroll, and 12 great-grandchildren, six siblings; Edward Jr. (Joann) Nechvatal, Robert (Kay) Nechvatal, Mary (Stanley “Buck”) Novinska, James (Darlene) Nechvatal, Tom (Sally) Nechvatal, Mike (Sandy) Nechvatal, along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cletus Kroll on May 29, 2000, son Gary Kroll on September 19, 2017.
Visitation
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday September 5, 2023, at the Larson Family Funeral Home. Father Tom Kelley will be officiating.
Burial Services
Burial to follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Fennimore.
