Gerald D. Bollant

FENNIMORE – Gerald D. Bollant, age 86, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Divine Rehabilitation & Nursing in Fennimore. He was born on November 8, 1936; the son of William and Frances (Schnorenberg) Bollant. On October 6, 1959, Gerald married the love of his life, Lavon Collins, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope. Together, they farmed the family farm in rural Montfort. They later purchased the farm from his parents and continued farming for 25 years. They were married for 61 years before her passing in 2020. During their younger years, Gerald and Lavon traveled throughout the US. Some of their favorite stops were the Black Hills in South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park. They also had the opportunity to travel to Switzerland.

Gerald enjoyed playing card games such as euchre, “dirty clubs”, rummy, and cribbage. He could often be found downtown Fennimore playing cards with his friends. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. He participated in men’s day and bowling league for many years. Gerald had a way of making friends everywhere he went and loved talking with people. He could strike up a conversation with anybody.

Gerald is survived by his 3 children: Mike (Kerry) Bollant, Diane Bollant, and Patrick Bollant; 4 grandchildren: Brandon, Garrett, Kyle, and Cole; 3 great grandchildren, Camden, Madalyn, and Braelyn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavon; parents; brothers, Bob and William Bollant; and sisters, Kate Millard and JoAnn Harris.
