Clinton “Clint” E. Stephens, age 93, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Divine Nursing & Rehab. He was born on December 10, 1929, in Ellenboro, WI; the son of Donald and Georgia (Russell) Stephens. Clint graduated from Platteville High School. He married Doreen Cook on June 3, 1949. They were married for 35 years before she passed away. Clint was then married to Mildred on September 14, 1985. She preceded him in death in 2022.
Clint and his brothers operated Stephens Standard for a couple of years, a 24-hour gas station. He then drove Ruan gas truck before being employed at John Deere, where he worked for 27 years until retirement. Clint was proud of the fact that in 27 years, he only missed one day of work. While employed at John Deere, Clint would often come home and trade his shop clothes for his painting clothes. He enjoyed painting houses in the area for many years. Clint also volunteered with the Fennimore Fire Dept. Clint was an avid Wisconsin Sports fan and loved to go hunting and fishing. He was also very proud of his time spent donating blood. By the end of his time donating, Clint donated 139 pints of blood! His claim to fame was that for 92 years, he never was hospitalized for anything. He would tell anybody who would listen.
Clint is survived by his children: Milton Stephens, Kim (Vicki) Stephens, and Suzanne (Mike Koch) Stephens; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth (Bill) White. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Doreen; second wife, Milly; son, Stephen; daughter in-laws, Cathy and Kathy; and siblings: Dean, Jim, Gordon, and Beverly.
