Fennimore, WI-Dorothea R. (Koschkee) Rogers, age 99, passed away on Monday morning March 31, 2014 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. Dorothea was born on Aug. 10, 1914 in Mt. Hope, WI the daughter of Walter & Nellie (Reukauf) Koschkee.
Dorothea’s early childhood was spent in Montana and South Dakota. She graduated salutatorian of her high school class in Mt. Hope. Dorothea attended teachers training in Platteville and then taught in various rural schools. She was united in marriage to Charles “Tod” Rogers on July 28, 1941 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They spent their married life residing in Fennimore. Dorothea retired from teaching and was a dedicated wife and mother. She and Tod loved spending time together at Lake Joy, and spending numerous winters in Yuma, AZ. Dorothea was a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church, the Fort Crawford D.A.R., Dodgeville Order of Eastern Star, and an honorary Fennimore Women’s Club member. Dorothea had been currently residing at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society since 2008.
Dorothea is survived by her daughter Rogene (Terry) Needham of Fennimore; three grandsons; Tony (Stephanie) Needham, Tom (Lori) Needham both of Fennimore, and Tory (Jodi) Needham of Wonewoc, WI. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren; Meghan, Alexi, Jeffrey, Brett, Cole, Tucker, and Macey Needham, and a special cousin Ann Mayne of Mt. Hope.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles “Tod” Rogers in 2005 and an infant great-granddaughter Rylie Marie Needham in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Reverend Duane Andrus will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Fennimore United Methodist Church on Wednesday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
