Livingston, WI-Roger H. Millard, age 78, died on Thursday morning March 6, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services in Platteville, WI. Roger was born on Dec. 29, 1935 in Livingston the son on Lewin & Venie (Markee) Millard. He was united in marriage to Susan Shepard on June 30, 1973 in Livingston.
Roger graduated from Livingston High School and then worked on the family farm. He went to work as a forklift operator for Carnes Co. of Verona until retiring after 28 years. He loved fishing, deer hunting, and raising his beagles. Roger was also an avid Green Bay Packer and baseball fan. He enjoyed working as a youth baseball coach for many years in Livingston and also organized and coached a women’s fast pitch softball team. Roger enjoyed people and made many new friends through his delivering of the Shopping News, taxiing the Amish and Mennonites, and was often meeting children due to being mistaken for “Santa”.
Roger is survived by his sister Geraldine McReynolds and his sister-in-law Geraldine Millard both of Fennimore, several nieces & nephews along with a special friend Pattie.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife Susan on Dec. 12, 2008, brother Wilbur Millard, and brother-in-law William McReynolds.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday March 10, 2014 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial in the Rock Church Cemetery rural Livingston. Paul Zimmerman and Nelson Shirk will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday March 9, 2014 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home and from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home on Monday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers memorials would be greatly appreciated.
