Nathan L. Blabaum

Nathan BlabaumMonroe – Nathan L. Blabaum, age 70 of Monroe and formerly of Cobb, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening March 10th, 2013.  Nathan was born on October 31st, 1942 to Albert and Alice (Cole) Blabaum at the Blabaum family home in Highland, WI. He married the love of his life Lois Finley on Oct. 14, 1961 in Mineral Point and together they enjoyed over 51 years of marriage.

Following graduation from the Linden/Cobb High School in 1960, Nate enlisted in the Army where he served with the 32nd infantry division.  For the past 30 years he was an insurance agent, 13 of those years with AAL and 17 years with Rural Mutual Insurance. Nate was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who was always looking out for everyone and made friends wherever he went. We have been truly blessed to have such an amazing man in our lives. He is already missed, but because of his strong faith, he is in a better place knowing that we will all meet again. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports and going on vacations with Lois.

Nate is survived by his wife Lois, his six children; Janine Nelson of Nashville, IL, Kathy (Sean) Derry of Prescott Valley, AZ, Todd (Janet) Blabaum of Highland, Kristi (fiancé Kyle) Blabaum of Madison, Kelli (Bill) Brunton of Monroe, and Curt Blabaum of Atlanta, GA, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.  Nate is also survived by his brother Ramon (Rosemary) Blabaum of Dodgeville, and sister Sharel Wentz of Coopersberg, PA, sister-in-laws; Marion Blabaum of Highland and Nancy Finley of Mineral Point, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Dwayne, Arnold and Barry Blabaum, three brother-in-laws; Jim, LaVern, and Walter Finley, and a sister-in-law Helen Ballas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 16, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church in Highland with Pastor Don Fehlauer and Pastor Rick Bader officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Highland Public Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday evening March 15, 2013 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
