Fennimore, WI-Ruth Ann Staskal, age 90, of Fennimore died on Monday morning Dec. 24, 2012 at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. Ruth Ann was born on Sept. 20, 1922 in Fennimore the daughter of Roy & Ida (Colby) Loney. She was united in marriage to Jefferson Staskal on Sept. 5, 1939 in Fennimore.
In the 1950’s Ruth Ann worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, IA until she and Jefferson purchased their farm in Ellenboro Township. They farmed together side by side from 1963 until selling the farm and moving to Fennimore in 1983. Enjoying each other’s company, Ruth and Jefferson liked woodworking and sold their creations in Fennimore, donating the profits to St. Jude’s. She was a very hard worker; especially on the farm, in her garden, and strawberry patches. She was truly dedicated to being a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. Ruth enjoyed her retirement by reading and working with her doll collection. She was a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church and will be remembered for being devoted to her religion, her family, and hard work.
Ruth Ann is survived by her five children; Redgie (Melly) Staskal of Bagley, Greg (Jane) Staskal of Cuba City, Steven (Betty) Staskal of Livingston, Sandra (Dave) Hein of Kiel, Lynn (Cherie) Staskal of Richland Center, eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, three foster grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Marcella Staskal of Baldwin, IA, and a life long friend LaVon Hahn of Fennimore.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jefferson on Sept. 19 2000, two grandchildren; Marcy Staskal and Shawn Staskal, three sisters; Virginia Folyer, Clarice Fritsch, and Morna Olsen, and five brothers; Daryl, Keith, Willard “Bill”, Kenneth, and Eugene.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Dec. 29, 2012 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church on Saturday morning.
