Theron A. "Doc" Haufler

Theron A. “Doc” Haufler, age 80, of Montfort passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday morning Sept. 18th, 2012. He was born Feb. 16, 1932 to Elmer and Matilda (Rankin) Haufler in Vassar, Kansas. Theron married Rose Anne Trendel Aug. 15, 1951.  After graduation from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS with a degree in Veterinary Medicine, Theron and Rose Anne moved to Fennimore, WI. There he began his Vet practice, later building the Fennimore Veterinary Clinic on Lincoln Avenue in Fennimore.  The couple purchased a farm near Montfort in 1966.  Theron continued his Vet work along with farming for many years.

He and Rose Anne are longtime members of St. Peter Lutheran Church serving on various boards.  He also served as President of the Southwest Veterinary Association.  Theron enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, woodworking, and playing cards with his poker buddies.

Theron is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Anne, daughters: Aleshia (Tom) Haley of Millersville, PA, and Tamra (Kirk) Hull of Onalaska, WI, sons; Douglas (Diane) Haufler of Mount Hope, WI, and Darrel (Deborah) Haufler of Raleigh, NC, a brother Delmar (Jo Ellen) Haufler of Burlingame, KS, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Theron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Marion, Harold, and Dean, and sisters; Lorene Milius and Hazel Goddard.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday Sept 22, 2012 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Castle Rock Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory Grove Township, Grant Co., WI.  Friends and family may call from 4-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening Sept. 21, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Church on Saturday morning.  The family requests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a charity of choice in memory of Theron A. Haufler.
