Fennimore, WI-Donna L. Jones, age 51, of Fennimore died with her loving husband and family by her side on Monday morning Aug. 20, 2012. She was born on June 30, 1961 in Viroqua, WI the daughter of Ronald & Margie (Graham) Peterson. Donna was united in marriage to Rodney Jones on Nov. 4, 1982 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Donna graduated from Fennimore High School in 1979. She spent much of high school and the years after working for her parents at Open Arms Drive-Inn and Napp’s Motel Café. Donna worked briefly at Ray-o-Vac where she met the love of her life, Rod. When her parent’s restaurant closed, Donna went to work at the A & W in Lancaster. She spent 22 years there until having to retire due to her declining health. Donna believed in hard work and most of all, taking care of her family. Donna adored her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved going shopping, cooking, talking politics, and cheering on her Green Bay Packers. Donna was a loyal employee and friend who could always be counted on. Her courageous battle with cancer and wonderful sense of humor will never be forgotten.
Donna is survived by her husband; Rodney, two children; Amanda (Matt) Downing, Andrew Jones all of Fennimore; two grandchildren; Alex & Brynlee Downing; mother; Margie Peterson of Fennimore, siblings; Lorie (Jeff) Kreul of Boscobel, Diana Welsh of Blue River, Jessica Peterson of Fennimore, Aaron (Sara) Peterson of Fennimore. She is further survived by her mother-in-law; Nola Jones of Wauzeka, brother and sister-in-laws; James M. (Marge) Jones of Wauzeka, Joyce (Merlin) Copus of Viroqua, Dale (Lori) Jones of Arena, Ray (Deb) Jones of Prairie du Chien; fifteen nieces & nephews and eight great nieces and nephews along with many special friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her father; Ronald Peterson on Oct. 4, 1993, and her father-in-law; James L. Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday Aug. 23, 2012 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial in the Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday Aug. 22, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Thursday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers memorials may be given in loving memory of Donna L. Jones.
